Racism in America

protest in India

It’s long past time that people in the US stood up for justice. The murder — and there’s no doubt it was murder — of George Floyd in Minneapolis is just the most recent example of this horrendous injustice, but it may be one of the worst ones. All too often, cops have been cleared of guilt by claiming the action that resulted in someone’s death was a “heat of the moment” response.

Let me be clear about this: “there is no way in hell this was a heat-of-the-moment response. The cop knelt on George Floyd’s neck, for five to ten minutes, and all the while, Floyd begged to be let up, saying he couldn’t breathe. In addition, numerous bystanders pleaded with the cops to let him go, saying the same thing — that he couldn’t breathe.

There is absolutely no doubt of the cop’s guilt. We have several videos and dozens of witnesses. To make matters worse, there were three cops standing by who did nothing. I shouldn’t say nothing — they made sure to keep the witnesses at bay so that no one interfered.

And let’s be clear about one more thing. George Floyd did NOTHING to warrant any of this treatment, but even if he had done something prior to the video we see, once he was handcuffed and on the ground, there was no need — none — to continue applying pressure to his neck.

This treatment of another human is nothing but inhuman. It is the worst of the worst. It is no wonder that many black people are suspicious of the police and others in authority. Wouldn’t you be suspicious if others of your nationality were continually treated that way?

This is a situation that ALL people need to become vocal about. This is not just a black problem; it’s an American (US) problem. This country consists of whites, blacks, Latinos, Indians, American Indians, and so many others. We cannot continue as a country by being a country for whites only.

Take a look at this video and tell me you’re not appalled. And when you’re done, please share it. We need to have as many people as possible show their disgust for this kind of action. And it can’t be just blacks; it should be people of all color.
